Can peony bushes be grown in central Fla close to the Orlando area?

    Studies are saying no they will not make it more than one season due to the temperatures in florida.

    The problem is that to create their beautiful Spring blooms, peonies need a long enough cold dormant season which you don't get in central Florida.

    Peonies won't survive in Florida because your soil is mostly sandy and peonies need an acid based soil and also your winter isn't like in the north where you have 9 mo of dormancy which is what peonies need to bloom. You also need the very large black ants to eat the wax off the buds. I've never seen those type of ants in Florida
