You can dissolve your dye color in water and put it in an old spray bottle. Then yo should be able to get the edges easily. Alternatively you could try spray paint.
Use a paint brush for a more precise edging with dye or paint. You can actually do it right in place or outdoors. If you do it in place, use an old shower curtain and slide it under the edge of the rug's perimeter so you can dye it, let it dry and then removed the shower curtain. Have fun.

Simply dip dye it in RIT dye solution. The website will give you a variety of ideas and color combinations. You can buy RIT dye at Walmart.
