I have these ugly spots on my white wall and I’d love to get rid of them! I tried covering them up by dabbing some white acrylic paint overtop but they look even worse. icon Any suggestions?

First is this your house, if it is then did the spots just appear or did someone cause them and with what? Is hard to suggest what to use without knowing what caused them. There are so many products out there for specific stains. If they just appeared make sure house doesn't any way from water to get in, although they don't look like that it can't be discounted.

Thanks for you response! I don't know where they came from! Looks like someone splattered some mud on the wall and forgot to tell me...

I would use magic eraser, but press lightly, or you could scuff your walls. If you don't have a magic eraser, you can use a bit of comet cleanser on a damp cloth, but again, rub carefully, as you could scuff the wall.

if you've already painted over it. the kilz paint will cover it or another brand of paint for stain coverage. just go to menards or any do it center and they will help you with what you need.

If all the other suggestions fail you can use Lacquer thinner. Just be sure to use latex or rubber gloves or you could sand it down and repaint the repaired area (that is most likely what I would do.

I would use a little bit of very fine Sandpaper, get them even Smooth taking off the paint you put on.. very gently. Then, rinse off with damp rag, let Dry. Then Spray your kill on it. Very short sprays not to Close and spray very likely. Viola, Should look good as New. Val. MI.

I would try gently scrubbing with toothpaste. It is abrasive but not like a cleaning product. Make sure the entire wall area is wet first so you don't end up with a dry to wet edge mark. When washing walls it is always best to wet from bottom to top so drips down the wall don't become permanent streaks.

Zinsser makes a paint that covers everything. They use it in apartments to cover and it seals in odors too. Ask at the paint counter. They will know.

Next time you paint. Before you can prep with a cup vinegar a cup baking soda 2 caps Murphy oil soap in a bucket with half full water. This is good for yellow or grime stains. Will lighten paint to original color. Good to have 2 rags and 1 extra bucket of clean water. Gloves are good. And rinse rag in clear water so you aren't putting dirt back on wall.
