What flowering bushes can thrive in direct sun?

My backyard is in full sun all day and I want to plant flowering bushes that will survive direct sun. I live in Ohio, not sure the zone. The beds are irrigated. I love hydrangeas. Would that be too hot for them?

forsythias can take full sun and are one of the earliest blooming with a riot of color in the spring. I have also had beautiful lilac bushes in full sun with no problem. good luck!
