Inherited cedar chest is functional but lots of stains and dirt. Brass trims look painted over.

Since I've never redone a cedar chest, I just googled it. I typed in "ideas to redo a cedar chest," and the first thing that popped up was Pinterest with hundreds of ideas. And, there are so many sites for you to visit.

If you wanted to bring it back to its original beauty: Simply sand the piece thouroughly, be sure to wipe it off with a slighty damp cloth to pick up any residue left on the wood after sanding and then proceed with the stain color of your choice! You can choose to seal it with any type of wax or polyurethane, of your choice. Good luck. Send pictures when you're done!
