Tea dying is a great route to take. Check it out!
I would do a very diluted tea wash on it. If you find a tutorial for a tea wash, I would suggest using a more diluted wash than the recipe calls for. Depending on the fabric, some grab the tea stain more quickly than others. You can always make the tea stronger if you want more color, but it is virtually impossible to remove the tea if you have made your fabric darker than you wanted.
I used coffee to dye a doily for a homemade wedding purse. It gives a warmer ivory shade than tea. You can try both on sample fabric, to determine which colour/shade you like better.
Any of the above if you want a yellowish beige...boil onionskins and fix w vinegar like you do when you tye dye.
