I purchased it at my recycling center. I picked it up for $0.50 and I want to do something with it in the future.
One of the sides opens, I have no idea what purpuse it had, need your help to identify
Just found the label at the bottom panel inside the box. It has revealed that it's a container for a 4 litre wine container. The hole is for the tap. Now I have to figure out what I will do with it as I'm not a wine drinker.
My best guess is some type of magic show prop.

Looks like it may be a Religious Shrine Box. Holds a religious figure, artifacts, etc. People would slip their hand in the hole and touch the figure for a daily blessing. It would be opened for viewing on Sundays, Holy Days,

you might be able to store kitchen size trash bags inside and thread them thru the round opening at the bottom
Looks like it was handmade! Most are and sometimes very elaborately decorated.
Hard to tell the measurements but ... End table, maybe can flip the lid for the top. Planter, nice tall plant like a palm or sansevieria . Umbrella stand.

You could use it to store something like linens and towels, or maybe kids' toys. If you added some shelves, you may like to store some books or games for rainy days inside. I want to know what you decide to do with it!

I am not sure about the original use. It is unique. Could you turn the lid upside down and use it for a plant stand?
