Many herbs will work for this, including putting a sprig of something into pasta & flour, to discourage weavils.

  I use bay leaves in any grain product to keep weevils from developing. I also place several bay leaves directly on the shelves where I store food and haven't had weevils in years. I even put them in boxes of cereal. They don't change the taste of anything.

If they are coming in from outside the easiest way to stop them is to draw a long of chalk around the house. The don't cross the chalk. Our science professor told us that the odor of the chalk confuses them. I have never had ants inside my home. Lived here 19 years.
