My cabinets are coming apart- help!!!

My Kitchen cabinets are plastic coated & have started pealing & breaking at the edges. Is there a way to repair, re-coat or do they have to be replaced? The rest of the cabinet is a great condition - just the face is pealing & cracking.

I've been a cabinet maker for 35 years. Isn't much you can do when they get in this condition but replace. You can probably postpone that for a while by gluing loose pieces back down before they break off and getting a little white paint to make places where it is missing a little less obvious. You can probably use one of the cyanoacrilate (sp) glues you can get at Lowes or Home Depot. Push the glue back as far as you can with a toothpick or something similar. Stick a piece of masking tape to the front of the door and pull it tightly around until you can stick it on the back. Let dry according to the directions on the bottle. These are now available with a variety of cure times. If a little glue comes out as you pull the tape it can be carefully scraped off later with a razor blade. I am pretty sure that glue will bond to the remaining adhesive used to bond your laminate. If by some chance it doesn't I used construction adhesive for similar repairs for years before these new glues came out. If the cabinet boxes truly are in good shape you might also consider just replacing door and drawer fronts as a less expensive alternative to a full replacement of cabinets and countertops.

Just go with it. Peel and paint them. It's a great way to get an update without spending a lot. I had the same problem and mine look better painted than with the original plastic coating.
Its been a few years since I saw this so not sure how successful it was or if it still exists but someone came out with a paint that you could use on plastic laminate countertops. Laminate is pretty impervious to a pretty wide variety of material that sticks to everything else so that was considered to be a breakthru of sorts at the time. I'm inclined to think it would be a good solution for your situation if it is still available. Check Lowes or Home Depot. If they don't have it I'm sure they can point you to who does.
I have the same problem but my grandkids made it worse by peeling it off when they saw a crack so I have decided to make new doors with some pallets. Just got a load of pallets so I'm just starting the project wish me luck.
I had the same thing happen and all I did was peel off the plastic coating which left me with the perfect surface to paint. A couple coats of Krylon and they look great !
