What have you tried to get rid of crabgrass in Florida?

i've been using baking soda to kill crabgrass and it works... but a bonus is that the st augustine grass is now growing strong and thick. i've started adding baking soda where the lawn is very thin under the oak trees. excited to see if i get the same results. does anyone else have same results?
