I bought fake snakes at the dollar store. Kept the squirrels away from my vegetable plants. Some were green, others orange. In the toy section. Sometimes they gave me a start when I would go over to the garden!!!!

Those darn squirrels are my enemies....they used to dig up my beautiful potted plants in the Summer all the time and I tried everything to deter them per garden center suggestions.....pea gravel, spray repellents, etc. and then my clever hubs had an idea a couple of years ago and now I don't have any more squirrels issues! Mouse traps! NOT to snap onto the squirrels, but to scare them away! He heats up the coils with a lighter before setting them so they don't snap with such force but are still sensitive to any movement around them. At the very start of every Summer, the squirrels will attempt to get into the soil & dig and then SNAP.....they get scared off! No need to bury them in the soil, just set them in the pot. And no, we have never harmed or injured a squirrel. They're smart & usually never return to that same pot.....once is enough to scare them off for the rest of the growing season! Give it a try. This has been a miracle for me after years frustration & dealing with dug up and destroyed flower pots, and those annuals aren't cheap!

Great ideas...also cayenne pepper sprinkled in bird feeders...around special plantings.

just don't get downwind when you're using it. Those rubber snakes do scare you...lol. They work for voles too.

I used hot pepper flakes around where my bulbs were planted, used it 1 time and the squirrels now leave them alone. I kinda felt sorry for the little guy as it was scotch bonnet pepper flakes, but it did the trick. I did through out a piece of bread for him to eat after. You might have to repeat this if it rains.
