Paint with Gripper first. Can get at Home Depot or any place they sell "Glidden Paint". NO SANDING needed. Now you are painting paint and not the original surface that may or maynot be paint combatable.

Thank you so very much for the info. My cabinets are "oak-looking" but I believe they are pressed-type board that is then stained to look like oak. I will def check into your advice. And most likely, if it works, I will post a before & after pic!

"Gripper grips to glass, Formica, shiny tile, human skin. Being a professional painter I usually wait for it to slough off with the natural sloughing of skin cells; 3-4 days. But if I have to go somewhere I use vinyl gloves, which I hate using while painting. Scrubbing it off the skin after it dries makes for raw spots, not fun.

Go to Home Depot. They have a kit that will prime your cabinets and then a streak kit to make them look like wood. My daughter-in-law painted their plastic base cabinets from dark to light. They came out beautiful.
