What's the easiest way to make red oak cabniets look like driftwood?

    Thanks, So far it looks like it will take six coats to get to where I want them to look and I have lots of cabinets!

    I think Rustoleum makes a stain now called "weathered wood." I had seen it online (pinterest, maybe?), and then in person at Walmart. Maybe $10 ish for a quart. I'm guessing home improvement stores would have better prices for a gallon. It's kind of a grey tone, so IDK if that's what you're looking for or if it would be darker than you're wanting.     Hi Cheryl I have in the past after rubbing down to open the grain and cleaning. I used a white paint with a touch if grey, diluted with water brushed it on and rubbed most of it off afterwards with a rag, this gives a lovely weathered distressed look and not a painted look. Then use a dead flat varnish to finish making the surfaces hard wearing and durable. You could try it on an inside door first and gauge if this is the type if finish you want, good luck.
