  • Try to freeze it with ice cubes in a baggy like you would if you got gum stuck. Then try to scrape most of the crayon out of the fibers with a butter knife. There are many remedies like ironing the spot with a brown paper bag to remove the crayon. Another one is carefully spraying WD40 to remove the crayon and then washing the carpet. On white carpet that is a scary thing. I would Stanley Steamer and ask them if they can remove. This may be one situation let up to a professional.

Hope I can help, I had a dog eat a tube of red lipstick in my carpet. I was able to get it all out with the use of "SPOT SHOT". It comes in a can with bright blue and orange littering. It is a carpet stain remover. Some how it seems to melt the stain. Now I keep a can on hand all the time.

Folex spray found at Home Depot and the like takes out all kinds of stains although I've never tried it with crayon. Good luck.

Try and freeze the area by applying an ice cube, and then scrape off the excess crayon. Then cover the stain with a clean white cloth and press, using the tip of a warm iron. Repeat, using a clean portion of the cloth until all the wax is transferred from the carpet to the cloth. If a color stain remains, sponge the stain with a dry-cleaning solvent. Or try and spray the stain with WD-40 and let it stay for some time. Wipe off residue with a paper towel. Re-spray with WD-40, then apply liquid hand dish washing detergent directly on the sprayed area. Wipe off the residue with a paper towel. Repeat until the stain disappears.

I have had good luck with the above solutions, however to 'finish' the cleaning process, try either 'Goof Off' or 'Goo Gone' found in the paint dept at any hardware store. Its also grrreat on many other tough cleaning jobs.... ie paint (even dried on) gummy labels off of thrift stores etc. Good Luck!! Dee
  • Be careful with an iron. Depending upon the carpet you could melt the fibers and have a real mess. I had a friend do this when she tried to remove candle wax and she melted her carpet. Today carpet is made with a lot of chemicals including plastic so a hot iron could spell trouble. Spraying anything on your carpet can cause a stain to reappear later on even if it disappears at that moment. That is how stains reappear on carpet after you clean it with all those sprays on the market~the dirt is attracted to residue left behind. For white carpet, I would leave it up to a professional. Other colors I am an avid "DIYer" and would DIY if it were another color but I have had white carpet and found that professional cleaning is the only way to go and a good professional can get out most stains. I have had them even get out stains that had been set for awhile.

Spot shot spray should get it up. My niece marked on our carpet which was tan with. A sharpie and it took it up completely.

Baking soda, make a paste with a little vingar and soda, work into area with brush. Let dry ,like overnight. Worked great on my white couch. Granddaughter just a marker on it. Removed it all.

Try Clorox Bleach Pen Gel For Whites (navy blue tube)! Love this - sometimes can't find in grocery stores but try Target. Clorox also makes a Stain Fighter Pen for colored clothes, etc. (orange tube).
