Coir? I think is the name of the liners that go into the hanging baskets? I am changing 8 baskets with new plants, have bought the new liners and already begun the change over. Question: what would you do with the old liners? Yes I know about tossing into compost but anything else. I am an Aussie and living in the Capital, Canberra just an extra bit of info that may be relevant. Thanks Glenys in Australia.icon

You could use them in the bottom of flower pots that are very large to take up space and conserve moisture. I also use newspaper and cardboard.

My old cocoa liner was in bad shape, so I tore it into pieces and put it on top of soil around other plantings and baskets to keep moisture in, prevent weeds and look pretty. Birds take some from time to time for nesting material. My husband uses it aoround base of his tomato plants.

Thank you for you suggestion Gin Johnson, I should be able to do that but I think my neighbour who was offered them changed her mind and has taken them now.

I will certainly keep that in mind when I do the next change over.

Thanks for taking the time to send that suggestion.
