We had that problem too, and my husband tried the weirdest thing, but it worked! He took bars of Irish Spring soap and hung them from fence posts all around the garden. Something about the smell of the soap that the deer didn't like, and it made them stay away from the gaarden!

Try dry and crumbled egg shells tossed around the garden. I lost my hostas each year until I read about using these. Finally got to see blooms for the first time on them.

Deer hate the smell of eggs. ake a home-made egg spray. In a blender, mix water, an egg and if you like a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Strain the mixture into a spray bottle and apply to foliage, fence posts, area around the plants. Renew after it rains, and the deer will stay away. Even if the spray gets a few days old before being used up, it is fine - even better than fresh. Just don't leave bottle in full, hot sun....

Put a good sized handful of human hair in the toe of a used panty hose and tie to your trees. This seems to work fairly well. Just spreading the hair around might do as well but this depends of how windy your neighborhood is.

Try Vicks Vapor Rub. It deters cats from from using your sofa as a scratching post. wouldn't hurt to try some outside for the deer. Also heard about putting human hair out there. I'm sure any beautician would gladly donate to the cause.
