Sink a plate or bowl level with the soil. Pour in some beer in the bowl. The slugs are attracted to the yeast. They drink their fill and die.

Another vote for diatomacious earth...it dessicates them and they die, yet it's safe for our pets. I've also heard of putting copper wires surrounding plants...apparently they hate them...is that fact or fiction? But yes, absolutely the earth will do the trick!

After years of fighting w slugs...I use slugo granuals for heavy infestations and then simple methods like diatomaceous FOOD GRADE for control. Sometimes they just over run your gardens. Using the sluggo knocks down their numbers quite quickly. And it's ormi approved.
