Washing Sponges in Washer

I bought a cheap sponge from Dollar General, on one side it is a sponge and on the other side there is a scrubby pad.
Can I clean it by putting it through the washing machine?
Please Help me! Thanks hometalkers!

I rinse these in water, squeeze them out, and put them in the microwave for 2-3 minutes to kill any germs.

I put mine in the dishwasher to clean - it even sanitizes them.

Yes, the microwave heat will sanitize the sponge. If you have a dishwasher, put it in there every time you run a load of dishes.

I run mine through the dishwasher as well, then I microwave them for 2 minutes. I've been doing it for years. Works like a charm!!

i have a smallish plastic trug that catches all the kitchen rags and towels, even the sponges and nylon scrubbers. never had issues putting the kitchen laundry thu the washer machine. don't put the metalic scrubbies in w/ kitchen laundry.

Hi Judy, i saw ur question over on the hometalk site where the girl made a beautiful curtain to hide her washer and dryer. You were wondering what u could do that was similar but you couldn't put a track up ? How about a closet pole and screw 2 large screw eyes into ceiling and insert closet pole ? Or even if you need the curtain to hang down farther, you can still do it that way but just use heavy duty fishing line, tie it to each end of closet pole (or a large dowel) and then tie to the screw eyes in ceiling. The second way means you could use a pretty shower curtain or even premade curtains (if you couldn't afford full length curtains. Anyway, just a couple ideas for you, hope one works !
