Kitchen and Pantry Storage & Organization

I have done several mini projects over the last year that have really helped my overall kitchen storage and organization.

First - I completely cleaned and painted my pantry.
For all the details check out:

Second - I added these shelves for storage. I used many glass jars for storing dry ingredients.
I added sliding pull out shelves and an additional stationary shelf under the stove top to aid in oganizing my pots and pans.

I love these magnetic spice containers from Ikea. There is an option to install a metal bar to hang them on, but I much prefer just adding them to the side of my fridge that is next to the stove...very convenient!

I tried the 'stick the magnetic spice jars on the side of the fridge' idea. Silly me, I thought it would look good and be convenient. Here's what happened: my dear husband failed to close the tins properly, leaving the shake-out holes exposed, then, hang them with the holes to the bottom, and voila, instant mess, every time.

Cute idea. Here's a tip for keeping track of the expiration date: use a small label and stick it to the back next to the magnet and write the expiration date on it. That way you never have stale spices but still have this cute way to store them. 🙂
