Search YouTube. Type "how to rejuvinate wood floors" and any number of videos pop up. Also, go to pinterest.com and type the same thing in the search block. Any number of solutions pop up. I'm guessing you'll find something you can work with.
Just a suggestion but if you are going to refinish, consider doing some two shaded stain with a stencil so the traffic areas will not be so noticeable as they continue to fade over time.
