Get a liquid weed killer. A small paint brush - one you can throw away. A shallow plastic container, think takeaway box that has been cleaned and dried. Rubber gloves (a must).

Ok be prepared, gloves on, and a flat surface to put your container on, then pour some weed killer into your plastic container. Carefully, making sure you do not drip, put one hand under the leaf and 'paint' the weedkiller a few leaves. Ivy can be tough to kill, but if you persevere you will prevail.

The alternative is to dig it out, but it is very tough. I would go for a mixed approach, cut back so you have a dozen or so leaves per stem, the do the painting on about 1/3rd of the remaining leaves.

    Best of luck.

You cannot apply a weed killer.Your only option is to try to suffocate it with black plastic or dig the ivy up.
