You're on the right track. Water when the soil appears dry -- never allow the soil to become completely dry.
Pinch and trim back the new growth to the farthest safe point. Never should all The new growth should never all be removed. A little should be left to sustain the health of the tree. Tropical and sub-tropical trees used for bonsai will require periodic pinching and trimming throughout the year. Repotting must be performed periodically on when its root system has filled the pot.
You got this! Good luck!!
I have one that I put outside in the summer in a shady spot and it loves it.
You will know when your plant needs water by picking it up and if it feels light it needs water, water just until you feel the weight change. That is the way I water all of my plants. I learned that trick from an orchid grower.
thank you
thank you for your help
Ficus does not like direct sunlight, bright defused is best. I have mine in a corner, away from a window. It is going on 10 years now and is thriving. I water when completely dry and don't allow it to sit in water for more than a few hours. It gets a shower a couple of times a year to remove any dust that accumulates. Don't over think it, they are really easy plants to care for.
thank you, I will move it out of direct light
