Get some of the water retention crystals. If you can't find them, get some diapers and break open. They have the crystals inside. It will keep the water in your planters longer.

I have picked up an old 32 cup coffee pot with a handle spout for 2 dollars from a church rummage sale. I place it on my patio and fill with pitchers of water. Once it is filled, I can water many times before I need to refill it.
