Mold at water level in toilet

I have done the white vinegar, 5 gallons in the tank after draining the tank and bowl. Cleaned the toilet completely on the outside. Used vinegar to treat the over flow holes in the sink. Even put some Down the shower drain. Mold grows over night where the water meets the toilet bowl, not a lot, just enough to make the toilet look dirty....certainly not like it did before the vinegar application/cleaning....any suggestions on how to get rid of this issue? It is bugging me, do not like dirty toilet.

Could you possibly have mold spoils in the water or air? If the water is in use during the day and not stagnate then something more serious might be going on. Be sure to use bleach. Could this maybe instead be some sort of sediment from the minerals in the water instead of mold?

That would really make me question your water supply. Kinda scary. But yes, use bleach, (love that stuff). I would check in the back of your tank too, They have the little disks that you can drop into the back to help keep it clean.

I would say use bleach. Don`t let it sit too long in your tank. After a bit flush it a few times.

Clorex outdooors will do wonders. You can buy it in Home Depot or Lowes.

Have 2 other bathrooms, one with out window ( downstairs hallway ) no problem....in any of them, and one is directly behind this one ( with wall between ) no, it is not in use during the day. It is a spare bedroom that I have been working on....unless I use it, but definitely no use in the evening. Koehler.toilet ..same as two others. One in hall bathroom is Gerber. It is mold. Not minerals or I would be fighting that issue everywhere. Highlander, I can not use bleach (lung issues n not spray can products either) I was told that bleach bleaches mold, vinegar kills mold not bleach.

yes cleaned all over...plumber told me not to use disks they rot out the toilet bolts, which makes sence in one bath where we had to replace the toilet this one is only 2 years old

Ta da. Found it....on the toilet tank lid!! All I can say is YUK I handled that ! Mold .... Lots. used vinegar on it and no believe this ? .? There are TWO holes in the tank lid they got flushed with vinegar GREAT place for mold to grow..... Tomorrow will tell! Keep up all posted

it grows in my one bathroom also. It is used a couple timers a day. I dump bleach, white vinegar which ever is closer at the time. I have no idea why it is there either! Never happens in my other to bathroom!

we had mold specialist come....on mold in basement. I was told about bleach from them. They said white vinegar n hydrogen peroxide equal parts killed mold.

I would then demise that the culprit is in the water only to that toilet or the air. Obviously as you have noted, there is something different in this bathroom from the other. Check to see (may not be easy to figure out) if there is a vent line coming off the sanitary line to this toilet...maybe something is in it. Same for the sanitary and water lines that spur off to this toilet...there is something different in the utilities to this toilet. Water in ok, water out growing mold. I know that is not an answer per say but since it keeps re-occurring, there must be a source.

There is a Lysol bathroom cleaning spray I buy at the Dollar Tree, it works wonders for our bathroom and kitchen at the vacation home beside lake.

Keeping the lid down will create mold, I would whether clean the toilet more often then to see a lid left up. Mold needs a warm, moist place to grow.

two days and holding....all gone. Why would anyone put holes in the tank lid of a toilet ? I have always felt the overflows in sinks were a dirty place, and clean them regularly but now the tank lid as well!

Zep has a good cleaner you might try. Also mixing one part hydrogen peroxide and two parts blue dawn dish washing liquid cleans everything beautifully. Hope one of these helps.Help answer this question...

The mold was generating in the lid of the tank cover. There are holes in that White vinegar kills mold I filled the tank lid with it key it soak and it's been two years NO problem
