Great idea!!!! Thanks for sharing!
How about that--bedroom furniture in the kitchen. You are so smart. After you clean it up, paint the inside white. The reflected light will help you see things in the back. If you are going to be storing misc. plastic wear, you're going to need some shelves. Braces or brackets could hold lightweight wood or heavy duty cardboard. This looks like it would also be the perfect place for metal wire shelving. I can't tell if that's another door on the left or drawers. The loose spices might be better kept in the cheese or cracker keeper up a couple of shelves. I'm sure you have great ideas for the outside of the chiffarobe, and this is your chance to go crazy with colors or techniques. But sure to clean every crevice inside and out. Old furniture sometimes has been home for mice or bugs. And purge things you know you should get rid of. Best wishes 😇 .
Hi Jewell, thanks for getting in touch with me and for the suggestions.
The left side has four drawers and on the bottom of both sides is a long drawer. The top drawer holds wraps, sandwich and snack bags. Next drawer holds cooking spices. The drawer below that, holds teas and baking spices. Next drawer holds my recipes and cook books (I don't have that many). The long drawer on the bottom holds cookie cutters in an old wooden box, extra large aluminum foil, quart, 1/2 gallon and gallon plastic bags.
The outside of the chifferobe is art deco. I'm keeping it with the original paint.
What a great find and there are so many possibilities for it! One always seems to need more storage space in the kitchen right? Great job thinking outside the box to make it into something useful for you :)
Isn't it great when you find something useful at the Thrift Shop. Great idea for kitchen storage. I'm in need of more kitchen storage myself since we recently moved & my kitchen is much smaller. Enjoy your creative find!!
Thanks, Chas. I just love this piece. I paid $50 for it at one of my favorite thrift shops, where this past winter, I found a burgundy leather Barcalounger, that cost me $100 and change, including tax and delivery! Went on line and found the same model in brown for $1000 and up! How's that for a deal?
