I need advice- My Bathroom needs Storage and Color changes- thoughts?

The bathroom in my rental makes me feel I'm in hospital.
It's a quite small rectangle with new white tiles up the walls, leaving a space of @30cm (painted) between them and the ceiling. There is a shower and a handbasin with no storage - just the pipes - taking up one wall, and a loo (facing the door) underneath the sash window (which takes up the end wall). The top of the cistern is approx. the same height as the bottom of the window
The only storage is a small mirrored cabinet over the handbasin.
I really need some colour and storage.
The owner says anything except removing the tiles is ok but I only have a miniscule budget!!

Maybe some wall paper (available on clearance at home improvement stores) or even just a border of some sort. If I understand the description of your lavatory, you could put a curtain around it to hide a couple of wire shelves. Fasten it with Velcro and it will be easy to pull off, launder, and rehang. You can also find repositionable stickers at dollar stores. Been on a tight budget all of my life. You can get really creative. I can give you other ideas if you're interested.

Sometimes paint stores have gallons of paint that were mixed incorrectly for sale for about $5. A gallon would more than cover your walls! Tile on all the walls certainly limits storage options, but you could look for a small iron or wood storage frame with baskets. Even if you have a shower with a glass door, you can hang a curtain over that to add color and pattern.

A colorful shower curtain with lots of pockets. Or hang a plastic shoe bag on inside of shower curtain at the back of shower.

Canvas or plastic shoe bags can be hung on the back of the bathroom door, too. Also, baskets ( inexpensive at Goodwill or Salvation Army) make for cute storage, and can be painted to match your decor. Also, How about one of those 'over commode' shelves? Several of my tenants have used them over the years for lightweight storage. Best wishes!
