How to Make & Embellish Pillowcases

I love to freshen up our bedding for spring and am always changing the pillowcases. Another way if you don't want to change or buy new is to add or embellish with pretty fabric on the openings by adding a border. This is also a great idea for kids. You can take any plain pair and add a fun print or use scraps you have.
I love to embellish and add pretty fabrics and trims to make them a little more special. Floral may not be your thing, but the same applies for black n white, animals, toys, skulls and crossbones, horses or whatever your fancy is.
Here is a pair I made for our bedroom and I'll show you how to do it too. Even if you don't want to make new pillowcases from scratch this is a perfect way to take store bought pillowcases and add some pizazz to them by adding a border and also great for kids as well.
I used some fabric I love, Rachel Ashwell's Simply Shabby Chic Mon Amie carried at Target with the sweetest pink roses on pale pink cotton. Then in my stash I had another Simply Shabby Chic discontinued print called Rosalie and just a little bit left of it. It is so gorgeous and perfect for a pretty border.
If you have any girls in your home this is an easy way to add a lot of romantic charm and you can find pretty prints at thrift stores all the time.
1. Cut fabric. 2. Use Hem tape. 3. Sew borders on. 4 Sew cases right sides together. 5. Sew wrongs sides for French seam. 6. Press and enjoy.
