How can I brighten up my front entrance?

I have black iron security door at the front and behind it is a painted. I need help deciding what color to paint my front door behind my black security door. The house is brick with iron columns and painted concrete porch. I would like to brighten up my front entrance which is small and want it cottage like. My cottage style mailbox to light green. Suggestions?

I would paint the bars and the door to match. The security door is function. You want your door to indicate welcome. I suggest bright red or canary yellow. Red is the "welcoming color". You can use spray paint on the iron bars and have the door paint match. Would love to after pictures.
