Any suggestions for Trendy Window Coverings?

Two windows in our Florida room: 1 @ 93" x 61"; 1 @ 46" x 61"
We need sun protection sometimes during the day and night privacy,
Plan to use roller blinds in white to match trim in the room.
Are valances currently in vogue?
I want something to "finish" the blinds.
Suggestions?

A house I lived in had very large windows that looked out over a large field and edge of a forest. Was not worried about privacy. I didn't have any window treatments at first but soon, the sun glare and heat in summer would force me to do something. I actually made curtains (out of really nice but cheap sheets) with Velcro at the top. I put up a valance and put the Velcro on the under side and when I needed to block the sun, I would attach the temporary curtains with the Velcro., When I sold the house, the lady who purchased it bought these window treatments from me as she really liked the idea. The sun was only a big issue for a few months out of the year.
