For the garden, putting down newspaper and mulch is a sure way to control pesky weeds. Check out this Hometalker's tutorial. I love it! www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/pest-repeller/gardening-organic-weed-control-paper-mulch-4130377

Thank you, the news paper idea is fine and I recycle so I have plenty. As for the mulch I'm on a very tight budget so I can't afford it. But I will use the news paper. Thanks again!!!

Hey Julie, I'm going to be using just plain grass hay over newspaper for my mulch this year as we always have some because we have two horses. It's always worked just at good as the stuff you buy and we get it for $2 a bale. I wonder if you could find a farmer or someone who keeps horses or livestock who might be willing to sell you one?

Thank you, I wouldn't of thought of that and we actually have hay bales in the garden for anyone to use... Thanks again.

Natural weed killer: 2 cups white vinegar, 1 tbsp salt, 1 1/2 tsp. dish soap.

Mix in spray bottle. Spray only on weeds, saturating leaves . They will wilt within 24 hours if a sunny day and within 48 hours will be gone. Do not spray on plants or grass that you don't want destroyed. I have had luck with this combination every year and the weeds are gone for most or all of the season . If more return, spray again.
