I replaced the worn carpet on my steps by purchasing sample pcs. of carpet. Unfortunately, you will be unable to purchase all the carpet pcs. in the same color. I purchased a bunch of pcs. in shades that blended. I played with the carpet pcs. placing 1 pc. of carpet for the top of the step and one pc. for the front of the step, until I was satisfied with the way it looked. I used an electric staple gun to staple them in place. I stapled the top of the step first and stapled the carpet around the front of the step then I stapled another pc, which may have to be cut to size, on the front tucking the top under the top pc which was rolled over the front of the step.-doing this will hide the staples. Or you can reverse the process. After I finished doing the 10 steps (using 20 pcs. of carpet) it looked terrific and lasted many years. It's actually was very simple to do.
