My Easter egg bath bombs did not work- what went wrong?

I made the recipe for Easter Egg bath bombs and they did not turn out. They turned brown and after setting all night became oily. When I put it into the tub it sank and never fizzed. I followed the directions exactly. What could have gone wrong?

Oh no! What recipe did you use? I'm not familiar with a recipe that requires them to sit overnight. Maybe try this one- https://gardentherapy.ca/diy-bath-bombs/ Good luck!

Thank you. I will give this one a try. The last recipe required an oil of my choice (coconut, olive oil, ) to be used with it, in addition to my essential oils.

Without seeing the recipe you followed I can only say you must have gone wrong somewhere. I never add any oils to my bath bombs as it stops the fizzing properly & also causes the bath to be slippery. I think that is horrible myself. I make mine with citric acid, sodium bicarbonate & magnesium sulphate. & use either isopropol alcohol or witch hazel to moisten them enough to set them up. Any colours you add either have to be powder or gel, never a waterbased one like food colouring, and use essential oils for scent.

    Hope that helps.

You can add botanicals like lavender buds or dried rose petals too but don't leave then for weeks before using as they can go mouldy

I'm guessing it was the oil too. I use a recipe similar to the one above with witch hazel to moisten and just a few drops of essential oils . I used powered coloring .
