I needed a card box for my daughter's upcoming wedding. We have been watching our budget, so I went looking for something to use. I came upon a box of (7) boxes all together, each one fitting inside the other at Michael's for quite a deal. Only they were like paper/cardboard....gasp!!!!!!!
This is what they came like. Paper/Cardboard type boxes. There was one bigger, this one, and 5 smaller, that all fit inside of each other.....oh....the possibilities and SCORE getting 7 of them!!
I took a Michael's or Walmart brand of Dark Wax, and painted it on the box, then wiped off, and repeated just a few times to get the desired darkness I wanted. It was sooooo easy, and it looks like it wooden now. GAAAH!!
This is the top if it with the same wax. Seriously, could it get any more easier or more beautiful??? I think not.
I had a little wood heart, so painted it red and wrote "cards" on it and hot glued it to the front. I also embellished the sides with some faux diamond looking stick on thingys. I did hot glue these also just to keep them safe from falling off.
When cutting the top for the cards, I overshot one side and made it bigger then the other. But....this beauty was just too good to waste, so I just glued some "netting" over the sides and added some more of the faux sparkly things. It's still a bit off, but does look better and I don't think it will stop anyone from giving the gift of money...LOL. I also put vinyl lettering on the top with their names and the wedding date.
TaDA!!! and here she is, in all her beauty and glory...for about $1 per box. I think I'll use the other sizes for something for the wedding too. So pretty.

You could use the other boxes to make a faux wedding cake to be used for decoration. Just stack them on top of each other. Don't glue the lids on for the bottom and top one. It can be used for trinkets or storage or jewelry after the wedding.
