They are already painted white. Around the handles, the paint is getting worn out. They have the trim around the doors. They are old wood. Any ideas?? Thank you

Would you want to chalk paint them? This is probably the most forgiving type of paint, also with the least prep!

We painted our cabinets a year ago. We used paint from Lowes that is made just for cabinets and furniture. It is available in any color imaginable, goes on very well and the cabinets look as good as the day we painted them. They have a pamphlet that explains how to prep surfaces.

Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

Definitely sand really well until all surfaces are smooth. Here's a tutorial on the rest: http://www.finditfixitorbuildit.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-white/
