I want to spray my cabinet pulls- How?

I have four cabinet handles in my bathroom vanity. I wanted to spray paint them to look like brushed nickel but my contractor said it will not hold up. The paint will wear off. Do you think that is true? Handles are very hard to replace and very expensive.

my mother sprayed hers with rustoleum spray paint and they held up for the most part. a couple of them, that are used many times a day, did start to wear, so she just sprays them again, but thats only like once a year or less

I sprayed mine about a year ago and they are holding up. I washed them in bleach and let them dry. I sprayed them with Hammered Nickel spray paint. They turned out great.

I agree. You need to wash them well with dawn dish soap or something that will take all the oils off the knob from your hands. Then spray. I used Rustoleum hammered nickle and they have been holding up for just over two years.

The trick to paint holding up is preparation before painting! Be sure pulls are clean (scrub well) & then gently "ruffed" up. I did this by using 000 steel wool, then cleaning again. Once dry sprayed 3 light coats of Rustolium paint. Finally 2 light coats of sealer. My pulls held up 5 years & looked great when we sold the house. Good luck 👍

I agree! Clean them real good, spray them with paint made for metal, and you can seal them with spray polyurethane or lacquer.
