We need gutter guards because we live in the mountains with many trees. What is the best and most economical solution?

We got a couple of quotes, but they are very expensive. We live in Jasper. Thanks for any info.

Hard cover gutter guards are used in areas without pine needles or small debris. They run $3 to $4 for a 3 ft section at home stores, They are relatively easy to do yourself. The more open screens are about $1.50 per 3 ft section and are very easy to install. The type of debris determines the type of gutter guard you need.

If there are many pine trees use the slot covers not the screen type. Pine nails have a tendency to stick right in the screens and require you to remove the screens to clean.

The slots seam to allow more to wash off.

You will save some grief if you do get the closed guards. I know in the Smokies (and foothills), some cabins can get high off the ground. So, there's also a safety issue. Would love to see some pics of your place, it is beautiful in Jasper.

Thanks all for the advice. Now I need to get some quotes. Does anyone know a good and economical installer? My house is on one level with about 405' of gutter. Is there a way to post a pic on this site?

You may want to consider one of the micro mesh screens....or an insert....whatever you go with ...pick a system that you can visually see into the gutter to see if debris is building up inside. No system works 100% and you will still need to inspect/clean once a year. We're trying out some new mesh inserts now and will report back on the results.
