Baking soda mixed with water into a paste.Any chemicals used will discolor the ceiling.
Cover it with a stain blocker
Scrubbing bubbles can be used for more than just a bathroom. Spray it on the ceiling letting it drop into a towel. It might take a couple of tries but you wont have to chance rubbing the texture.
Use Stain Blocker from DIY store. Then over paint.
