new home, cleaning....found this on vent of dishwasher. Thought to share with you all. Might want to remove the vent cover inside of yours and check it out. FYI no indications of this from outside of dishwasher my vent from inside came off with gentle prying, it snaps back on

Seriously, I did not purchase the dishwasher, it was in the house when we bought the house. I found FIST FULLS of dirt in the vents for the heat and air, we had the laundry tub removed it was so filthy, nothing in this house was clean. The oven was even repulsive. Do not think it is the manufacturers issue and I certainly do not want to own up to this, it was the previous owners mess. You feel free to contact them.....ok?

@Susan Cryor I'm pretty sure it's from the deposits in the water. Like I said earlier mine was purchased new when we redid the kitchen 14 yrs. ago. I don't cook a lot (we tend to go out, just 2 of us) so it probably gets run 2 or 3 times a week. Even though you describe the rest of the house a mess I don't think the previous owners created the dishwasher problem. I'm now going to check my sons, seeing he just moved into a house with appliances.
