These old shell back metal chairs just don't give up easy, do they? Many of these are becoming antiques, but occasionally, they do need a fresh coat of paint. This time, I took it a little further and added a painted sign to the chair for a little extra something.

Here is a photo of the chair before (and amongst all my weeds last summer). While the chair looked a heck of a lot prettier with the blooming potted plant as a distraction, this chair really needed a re-fresh of some kind.

Here is the chair without the plant. See what I mean? Bad shape!

Here, the project in process. I used vinyl lettering and and made my own printable (free download on blog). We have a light gray/blue siding on our house. I'd like to add accent colors on the house, so I fugured the best way to sample the color against the house color is to paint them on something. For the paint on this chair project, I used some SW Exterior paint samples in 2 colors.

Here the chair is finished and now I have a better idea of how these colors look up against our house. See the full tutorial on the blog, link below. http://stowandtellu.com/vintage-metal-chair-with-painted-sign/
