Home stores such as Bed Bath and Beyond,Home Goods sell upright utensils holders that work fine.

You can use many things depending on the style of your decor. It doesn't have to be that big or tall.

You can use an over sized Olive Oil can.
I used my grandmother's metal tea kettle. I just took the lid off and it has a large opening, fits 20-30 utensils including whisks, spatulas, rolling pin, lg spoons etc, plus it reminds me of my grandmother everyday.
I use my mom's old ceramic iced tea pitcher. It has a hairline crack, so can't be used for beverages anymore, but I couldn't bear to part with it. Now I think of her every time I see it next to the stove.
I use a ceramic canister that the lid broke. Works great. I have seen the old tall, lidded match boxes used for utensils. The ones for the long matches.
I found a vintage cookie jar with no lid at a yard sale .It cost almost nothing! I use that by my stove
It's pretty easy to make a wooden box to whatever specifications you need. Then you can paint or stain the box to any style or color to match the space.
