Sad Looking Buffet Gets Happy With A Makeover!

Like all furniture pieces I rescue, this sad buffet was in need of some help. I found it at a local thrift store and it had seen better days. It was missing knobs, the ornate wood overlays were missing parts and the veneer was coming off on the sides. Even with all the problems, I saw potential and I couldn't wait to get it home to bring it back to all its glory!
The veneer was not bad. I have rescued pieces that were a lot worse. This buffet only had it coming off on the bottom of the sides. I didn't even fill these in. I was painting this part of the buffet so it was an easy fix.
The knobs on the buffet were amazing and I was sad to see that it was missing two. But, the up side to that was that I had enough knobs left over for all of the drawers so I only needed to get two new knobs for the doors.
I found two antique brass knobs from Hickory Hardware to add to the doors.
They mixed perfectly with the original knobs!
I sanded down the drawer and door fronts and stained them . After that, I painted the top and outer sides with {aff} "Midnight Blue" from Fusion Mineral Paint. I love navy and this blue is a beautiful color.
Paint and wood together are one of my favorite combinations and this buffet now looks regal and happy. It has come a long way from the sad buffet I rescued. The brass knobs with the paint and the wood are so yummy! See, I knew this buffet had potential!

I'm getting ready to do a buffet that was given to me in dark blue and leave the draws in their original wood. I hope mine turns out as good as yours.

Beautiful restoration! Does Fusion Mineral paint have any advantage over chalk paint, or even plain old interior satin latex paint? I know chalk paint needs a protective coat on top of it, and latex needs a primer, but does Mineral Paint need either? thanks!
