Yes. It provides hot water. Their daily need is about 600 gallons of hot water. These collectors provide about 360 gallons plus daily. We calculated ROI for this installation. Being a church (a non profit organisation) they have no tax credit. The ROI will be 9 years. The pay back at the end of 30 years is over 110%
By the way Steve, since you are in Colorado, you could use these collectors for heating a home also. You have abundant sun. It will work well and will save you/home owner $$$$ over years. Radiant floor heating installation can be learned easily.
Thanks, Mr. Southeast. I know we have good rebates and plenty of sun. I need to get serious about researching my solar options here. We've got both our electric and hot water usage down pretty low, and solar thermal or PV could be pretty attractive. I have talked quite briefly to SunRun about a power-purchase agreement. Are they operating in Georgia yet?
They are a California company that installs solar panels, then basically sells you the solar power, rather than having you pay for the panels. Interesting arrangement, but it only works where solar rebates are pretty attractive.
Nice concept!
