Mineral Paint Makeover

I have a little side table that I wanted to make over. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. But I got some mineral paint by Fusion and the Beeswax, also by Fusion, that goes with it and decided to give it a try.

I wiped it down and took some 220 grit sand paper and by hand, just sanded the shine off of it.

I then wiped it down again and I was ready to paint. This was my very first time using mineral paint.
HOLY COW!!! I LOVE this stuff!!!! I have tried just about every chalk, and clay paint, but had never used mineral.

The first thing I noticed is that it's really smooth, and a little goes a long way! Also, it had virtually NO brush lines... what??? Normally I've got my 220 grit handy in between coats, but it was completely unneccessary! It took a total of 2 coats..... that's it!!!

After the 2nd coat was completely dry (and it dries very quickly) I used the Fusion Beeswax. Because of the small details I used a stencil brush making sure to get it in all the crevices.

Once it was fully waxed, I took some color pigment (Pearl Ex carbon black)and some of the beeswax and mixed it in a glass bowl, then applied it to the details like a glaze.

As you can see I worked the colored wax into all the little crevices so that it gave it an aged look.
You would NEVER want to do this on paint that hadn't been waxed FIRST! If you get too much pigment, you can just put a little of the clear wax on your rag (or brush) and rub it over the top and wipe the excess color away.

I love how it came out!! I had wanted to do something different with the top, but once I was all finished waxing it with the colored wax, I like it with the top it had!

I think I have become a mineral paint convert. I did not have to sand in between paint coats. I did not get any brush marks. It was an easy easy clean up? And I hardly used any paint. Such great coverage! I still may paint the top, but for now, I just want to enjoy the look as it is!

Love your table, I have been reading about the Fusion paint, do you have to wax and buff it like any other chalk paint or can you use a brush on finish?

First off perfect table!! My question is did you add the bees wax to the top Or just wipe down after sanding?
