I've been wanting to do this image transfer project for a while, but as you can tell, I'm super beginner at this. I need serious help

You can transfer the design from paper to wood if it is laser jet (toner, not ink) using acetone on the back side of the paper and rubbing lightly. You can also use carbon paper to trace the design onto the wood then paint or use an ink pen to fill in the design. You can use a sealer in a spray can which allows you to pick a sheen (matte, satin, gloss) or you can use mod podge. Mod podge would not do well in humidity as its silimar to Elmer's glue and softens when damp. I hope this helps. Search on how to transfer a laser print design on wood.
If you want to use a design printed on an ink jet printer, Handan's tutorial on the Navage Patch (http://www.thenavagepatch.com/image-transfer-to-hard-surfaces/) is excellent. I have done this to transfer to wood and it works. The trick with ink jet is to print the image at least 48 hours before you want to use it so that the ink can stabilise and dry properly. Experiment and have fun!
I suggest you copy(xerox), in case you want to use it again. Carbon paper would be my top vote. There are also projectors that you could use. Put design on projector, line up wood or paper you want it on and then just trace. Only problem would be if you have something large that you can't place on wall while you copy it. Not sure if they have one that can show up if you place the object on a table.
after lugging my old epson toner printer out, I read that I needed to tape waxed paper to the copy paper and print it with an inkjet printer. Make sure the shiny side of the wax paper is up. Them just use a straight edge to rub it off onto the wood. You didn't say if this was decorative or not, then spray a clear coat over it to protect the ink, as long as it will not be used.
You can use Graphite paper. Tape graphite paper to object. Tape image over graphite paper draw on image. Will transfer to project.
