Painting a leather top table???

I know I've read it before, but cannot find anything about painting a leather topped table, other than with chalk paint. I don't want chalk paint. I have a wood table with the green leather top, and want the top black.
Suggestions?

Automobile supply stores sell spray paint designed to change the color of auto upholstery. The paint is labeled for vinyl and fabric and can also be used for leather, providing a flexible coating that will not rub off, crack or peel.

Wash the leather chair thoroughly with the alcohol-based cleaner and the soft cloth, removing any oil or dirt completely. Let the leather dry thoroughly for 1 hour.

Apply several coats spray paint to the leather with a smooth movement. Hold the paint can at least 6 inches from the surface to eliminate paint runs and puddles. Let each coat dry for 4 hours.

  • Look up leather dyes as well. You can change the color.
