Rabbits eating my flower garden!

Jan Clark
by Jan Clark
Rabbits have decimated hundreds of dollars of plants in our landscape. I've learned the deterrents don't work. Planting the right flowers and shrubs do. Here are a few that work if you're in Zone 8: Delphinium, Oleander, Yucca, Juniper, Japanese Boxwood, Canna and English Ivy. Anybody else with successful plants?

I don't know the answer, but I have the same problem with squirrels and I would love to have them go away.

Put some moth balls around your outside flowers. Redo after rain. It's effective for cats maybe for rabbits to.

I made my own mix that is safe, but a no-no to animals. 1/2 cup red pepper flakes, 2 tsp cayenne pepper, 2tsp garlic oil(from a jar of purchased minced garlic) or powder.

2 tsp Hot pepper sauce, Tabasco

    2 cups cooking oil

    marinate for several days.

Blend in blender till smooth and totally liquid.

Spray or drizzle along rocks or fence line.

I wouldn't get in on edible plants I don't think.

I use it on the rocks in my rock gardens.
