What's the best way to spread an important word to homeowners?

I notice dozens of various types of outdoor bug zappers are sold on Amazon. Most purchasers probably don't know that they kill the good bugs as well as the bad, in fact they kill moths by the thousands. Moths are pollinators. Gardeners plant light colored flowers to attract them. The last thing we want to do is kill moths. Even wasps can be pollinators and should not be killed unless they are being harmful. Wild bees, essential
pollinators, get caught in zappers while gardeners build nesting houses to help them survive. Please help!

Small things like a neighborhood flyer may help but I would include statement from a notable source as well. Reach out to schools as well. Good information to know !

  • I do not have a bug zapper for that very reason. Yes, flying insects can be annoying while enjoying my yard, I just find other ways to deal with them, like running a fan, none of the flying bugs like wind . . .

Posting comments on other blogs or on Facebook groups about gardening could also spread the word. I did not know about this either, so today I learned something new that I can share with my family and friends.

Thank you so much for responding. Just yesterday a new ad came on TV for a different model zapper that will "get rid of all bugs." I appreciate your willingness to tell others. Olga
