Need unique ideas for the old kitchen sink

My husband just took out our old kitchen sink and I'd like to make a planter out of it. It is a deep, ivory double sink with five holes in it (three of which are where the faucet went.) I would like to stand it up , with the three holes at the top, and put flowers in a basket at the then bottom of each sink. I would also like to do something decorative and unique with the three holes.

Any ideas?

  • I think that is a fantastic idea! How about some garden art for the 3 holes? Either purchased or DIY, whatever you feel up to. Or maybe some sort of solar light spikes or holders? Candle holders or what about beverage holders?

I would build a stand for it, so it stood in a garden area, , add two solar lights to two holes maybe, or put the faucet on and attach a string of clear crystal look beads as a water stream. if you used a cabinet under the sink, you could distress it and make it look shabby chic. and store some gardening suplies underneath it too.

Regarding the holes that are part of the sink, why not hang a couple of smaller garden tools. Or you could take and use decorative pieces of wood or those found in a craft store that are already painted such as frogs, bees , butterflies, etc. Have fun and enjoy your project.

Hit the flea markets and look for odd objects like tops of fence posts, iron or wood finials, door knobs or anything that strikes your fancy for a whimsical look.
