We recently were faced with your exact situation. My wife wanted to redo the kitchen in grey and the countertops were a real eyesore. After several days of research we went with a resurfacing kit from Daich Coating. Specifically a stone slate finish that looked terrific when finished and was very easy to apply. The kit at that time was $99.00 and completely covered all countertops and our island and we some leftovers for future touchups. Rustoleum Countertop Paint kit or Giani Countertop kit.
You can use the Giani counter top kit! I used it in the bathroom and kitchen. Check out mine here: https://kelleysdiy.com/2016/10/10/kitchen-countertop-makeover/ and here:https://kelleysdiy.com/2016/09/28/bathroom-vanity-makeover-2/ It is easy to do, they have fabulous colors and is so much better than the Rustoleum countertops.
