Every spring/summer I get those pesky carpenter ants and they are some times very large. Help, how do I get rid of them. Have even seen a few in the house.

I feel your pain. When we bought our house we had carpenter ants EVERYWHERE. They were outside and there were plenty inside. We tried soooo many products and finally bought a product off Amazon called Bifen I/T and it was a miracle worker!! It comes full strength so you need to dilute it with water in a sprayer. We sprayed it all over the lawn, against the house and my husband may have even sprayed it in our basement crawl space (it is a sand crawl space and we were desperate!). Haven't seen any ants since, though hubby plans to spray outside every year just in case. I don't remember the cost of it, but it is worth every penny.

Some plants also work to repel many unwanted home invaders. Catnip repels ants, Japanese beetles, and several others. May attract cats. Chives also repel ants. Plant in window boxes, as perimeter plants at the foundation of your home and even in hanging baskets. There are also essential oils that can work as bug repellants.
